There are few things better than coming home from a stressful day at work to an excited dog or cat that is able to provide you with the comfort and support you so badly. Whether you’re at your best or feeling your absolute worst, pets always remain right by your side. Having a pet helps people understand the cycle of life and how everything we have is bound to end someday. Dogs and cats in particular are considered very close to humans and have been domesticated for thousands of year.

Owning a pet serves as a wonderful way to rediscover a sense of purpose. It helps people feel needed and wanted. Research has shown that pet ownership has many physical, mental, emotional and social benefits. Pet owners are generally healthier and happier than non-pet owners. Interacting regularly with animals can lower human blood pressure and also for patients at risk of unstable blood glucose levels, triglycerides and cholesterol in men, less depressed, feel less lonely than non-pet owners. Believe it or not, pets can be the best medicine, especially when a person is dealing with chronic pain such as migraines and increase their social interaction by involving activities: “walking, playing with the pets”. All these activities help to keep its owner active. This not only provides the opportunity for pet owners to establish close contact with their dogs. It also forces them to exercise and keep themselves fit in the process. Pet owners over age 65 make 30 percent fewer visits to their doctors than those without pets. They play an important role for your child: they make them feel safe, teach them the responsibility, provide companionship to children with learning difficulties, they can stop your children from developing allergies and have a stronger immune system. Dogs also have a special skill at sensing shift diseases. They have showed that some dogs are able to smell cancer in people. More importantly, dogs abilities make them perfect companions for people with dangerous conditions like ‘Parkinson’s and diabetes. However, before adopting a pet be sure to educate yourself about animals’ specific needs for maintaining their health and illness.

Experts say that pets are very therapeutic and can even prolong the lives of human being. Think about bringing a pet into your life. You won’t regret it.
